Dzsudzsák occupy the central and wide areas of the midfield. A. Robben uses his dribbling style to cut inside from the right, while B. Dzsudzsák and J. Farfán provide more support and width to connect the midfield to the lone striker.

The attacking phase relies on M. Kežman playing as a lone striker. He is expected to hold up the ball and allow the midfield players to push forward. The attack is built through the wide players who look to cross or drive into the box. When the team presses high, M. Kežman leads the charge, forcing defenders into errors so that the incoming midfielders can exploit the space created by his movement.
