The midfield consists of a central duo supported by wide midfielders to create a block of four. L.Bergvall and M.Svanberg sit in the middle to connect the defense to the attack. M.Svanberg provides energy to track back while L.Bergvall looks to break the line with his passing. On the flanks, D.Svensson and E.Holm operate as wide midfielders who must cover the entire length of the pitch. They push up to support the front four but must drop deep to help the two central defenders when the team loses the ball.

The attacking line is built around four players who stay high to pin back the opposition defense. V.Lindelöf, the captain, leads the line alongside V.Johansson as two central forwards. C.Starfelt operates on the left wing while G.Gudmundsson plays on the right. This front four is designed to press high and immediately hunt the ball when it is lost. The wingers look to cut inside or cross into the box to find the two central strikers.

Sweden gains a huge advantage through their ability to create wide overloads in the final third. By having four attackers and two wide midfielders, they can easily isolate defenders in one on one situations.
