Starting Lineup

GK · CB · RB · LB · CDM · AM · AM · LW · RW · LF · RF

The team relies on a high press and rapid transitions to overwhelm opponents, using a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup seeks to win the ball high up the pitch and move it forward quickly to exploit gaps in the opposition defense. By playing with a heavy central presence, the team aims to control the middle of the park and create central overloads.

GK acts as the last line of defense, playing behind a back three. The defensive unit consists of LB, CB, and RB, who form a narrow defensive block when the team sits deep. LB and RB act as wide center backs in this setup, primarily focusing on holding the line and covering the space behind the midfield. CB serves as the central anchor to win the header and clear the lines when under pressure. This back three works together to compress the space and deny the turn to any oncoming attackers.

A three man midfield with a carrier provides the engine for the team. CDM sits in front of the back three to shield the defense and deny the pivot. The two advanced midfielders, LCM and RCM, operate in the half spaces to connect the defensive and attacking lines. These players are tasked to carry the ball forward and press aggressively to win the ball high. This midfield group works to win the second ball and ensure that the team can recycle possession effectively when the initial attack is blocked.

The attacking front line uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defense. LS and RS act as the primary goal threats, often looking to run in behind the opposition back line. Supporting them are LAM and RAM, who act as wide attackers to provide width. These players push high to pin the last defender and create opportunities for the strikers. The team looks to play through the lines, using combinations between the wide players and the central duo to find the feet of the striker.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create numerical superiority in midfield through the presence of five players in the central area. This allows the team to squeeze the space and force a long ball from the opponent. Additionally, the team can use the wide players to pull wide and stretch the defense, creating gaps for the two strikers to exploit. The coordinated pressing from the front line makes it difficult for opponents to build play from the back.

This 3-5-2 formation is built to dominate the center of the pitch through intense pressing and quick ball movement. It is best suited for facing teams that play with a wide formation and struggle to defend central counter attacks.
