Blanc and Charlton must be ready to step up to set the offside trap or engage attackers early to prevent them from turning. The midfield is the engine of this formation, operating as a massive five man block that can shift to dominate the center. Josimar and Alba form a double pivot to shield the two defenders, with Josimar providing stability while Alba looks to recover possession. Rattin and Netto operate in the half spaces to link the defensive line to the attack, providing the necessary width and passing options.
