Starting Lineup

Seeking to dominate through heavy verticality and high pressing, SK Rapid utilizes a 2-5-3 formation to overwhelm opponents. This lineup focuses on overwhelming the central areas and using aggressive movement to win the ball back quickly. The team wants to play a direct style of football that moves the ball from defense to attack in as few passes as possible.

Hedl operates as the last line of defense behind a very aggressive back two. Horn and Marcelin act as the central defenders who must stay alert to long balls while pushing high to compress the pitch. Because there are only two dedicated defenders, they must cover vast amounts of space and rely on the midfield to drop back and help when under pressure. This formation requires the defenders to be brave and intercept passes before an opponent can turn.

The midfield acts as the engine room for SK Rapid, working in a complex layer to control the center of the pitch. Bolla and J. Auer form a double pivot to shield the two central defenders and break up play. Moving further up, Seidl and Amane occupy the central spaces to link the defensive layer to the attacking players. Gulliksen plays as an attacking ten, sitting in the pockets of space to create chances and find runners.

In the final third, the team employs three attackers to stretch the opposition. Antiste leads the line as a lone striker, looking to hold up the ball and bring others into play. Dahl stays wide on the left to provide width and cross the ball, while Wurmbrand stays wide on the right to cut inside and threaten the goal.
