The wide defenders, IPPOLITO and CAPUANA, function as attacking wing backs who provide the necessary width for the team. While they defend in a narrow defensive block, they are tasked to push high and overlap the winger when the team moves into the final third.

The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten.
