Focusing on a compact block and quick transitions, Huesca operates in a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and wait for the right moment to break forward, making them a side that is difficult to break down through the middle. The team looks to keep the lines close together to prevent opponents from finding space between the units.

DaniMartín starts in goal to organize the defensive unit from the back. The back line consists of a flat four with TAbad and Abajas occupying the wide positions. TAbad and Abajas provide width but must track back quickly to help the center. In the heart of the defense, Pulido and SArribas act as the central pairing. Pulido and SArribas work to clear crosses and win headers, while the unit as a whole drops back to form a low block when under pressure.

The midfield is organized in two banks of four to cover the width of the pitch. JesúsÁlvarez and ManuRico form a central duo that works to shield the defense and intercept passes. JesúsÁlvarez and ManuRico must fight for second balls and help the center backs when the opposition pushes up. On the flanks, Luna and Liberto provide the wide presence. Luna and Liberto are tasked with tracking the opposing wingers and looking to push up the line when the team wins possession.

Huesca utilizes two forwards to lead the line. SergiEnrich and Willy act as the primary attacking threats. SergiEnrich and Willy often work in tandem, with one player looking to hold up the ball while the other makes runs behind the defense. The attack is built through long balls or quick passes into the channels to exploit the space behind the opponent. SergiEnrich and Willy also lead the first line of the press to force errors in the opposition buildup.

One major advantage of this 4-4-2 lineup is the ability to maintain extreme compactness when defending. By keeping the distance between the midfield and the defense small, Huesca makes it very hard for teams to play through them. Another strength is the capacity for rapid transitions. Once JesúsÁlvarez or ManuRico win the ball, they can immediately switch play or find the forwards to catch the opponent out of position.

This formation provides a reliable way for Huesca to remain defensively solid while threatening on the break. It is a setup best suited for matches against dominant teams where the goal is to frustrate the opponent and strike on the counter.
