The midfield acts as a central block with GAȚCAN playing as a single pivot to shield the defense. To his sides, GLEBOV and KALACHYOV operate to win second balls and drive the play forward. OSINOV plays in the attacking ten role behind the strikers to connect the midfield to the front line. This combination allows the team to pass between the lines and provide support when the forwards hold up the ball.

Rostov employs two forwards to lead the attack, using POLOZ and MASLOV to stretch the opposition. POLOZ operates as a lone striker who can drop deep, while MASLOV works more as a second striker to find space between defenders.
