Johor DT Football Formation
Starting Lineup
IPAN /MEG · AYEP /NADEEM · AAN · RONALDO /NOPAL · CHEKAL /ZACK · OMAN · BOTAK · AYQAL · AWISH · ALONG /IQI · HAKIM / PANJANGJohor DT focuses on heavy verticality and intense pressing through a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and quickly move the ball into the final third. The team seeks to overwhelm opponents by crowding the central areas and using aggressive movement to create chaos in the opposition defense.
HAKIM / PANJANG starts in goal to organize the backline. In front of him, OMAN and BOTAK act as the two central defenders. This pair must stay compact and communicate constantly to cover the large spaces left behind when the midfield pushes up. They need to be strong in the air and quick to intercept long balls, as the two man defense requires them to step up and block runs effectively.
The midfield is the engine of Johor DT and is built around a central core. AWISH and CHEKAL /ZACK sit in a double pivot to shield the two defenders and intercept passes before they reach the box. Ahead of them, IPAN /MEG occupies the central space to connect the defensive unit with the attackers. ALONG /IQI and AYEP /NADEEM push higher as attacking midfielders, tasked with breaking the line with through balls and driving into the half spaces.
The attacking unit uses three forwards to stretch the opposition. AYQAL leads the line as a lone striker to hold up the ball and pin the defenders. On the flanks, RONALDO /NOPAL and AAN provide width and look to cut inside to create shooting opportunities. These three players must press high in coordination, forcing the opponent to play long and allowing the midfield to win the ball back quickly in advanced positions.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages, particularly through numerical superiority in the center. By playing five midfielders, Johor DT can often outnumber opponents in the middle third and control the tempo. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads, as the attacking midfielders can overlap the wingers to force the opposition defenders to shift and leave gaps in the middle.
Johor DT uses this aggressive lineup to suffocate opponents who struggle with high pressing. This setup is best suited for matches where the team needs to dominate possession and break down a team sitting in a deep low block.
