Starting Lineup

Kirat · Vishal · Alien · Kholia · Ankit · Ayaan · Yashal · Ashish · Sparsh · Sarthak · Abhay

Focusing on a heavy verticality and high pressure, this lineup uses a 4-2-4 formation. The intent is to overwhelm the opposition through sheer numbers in the final third, playing a direct style of football that looks to score quickly. This formation is built to dominate the offensive half and force mistakes in the opponent's defensive third.

Kirat plays between the posts to guard the goal. In front of him, the defensive unit consists of a flat back four. Ankit and Vishal operate as the two central defenders, where Vishal acts as a covering defender while Ankit holds the line. On the flanks, Kholia plays as the left back and Alien acts as the right back. They are tasked with defending the wide areas and tracking back when the ball is lost to prevent being caught out by counters.

The midfield features a double pivot consisting of Yashal and Ayaan. These two players must work tirelessly to shield the defence and win the second ball in the middle of the pitch. Yashal and Ayaan act as the engine, with one player often dropping deeper to help the centre backs while the other tries to carry the ball forward to connect the lines. They are the primary link between the defensive unit and the four attackers ahead of them.

The attacking line is very aggressive, using two centre forwards and two wide players. Ashish and Sarthak play as the two central strikers, working in a partnership to pin the last defender and run in behind. Sparsh and Abhay operate as the wingers, staying wide to stretch the defence and provide crossing options. Sparsh and Abhay can also cut inside to create central presence, while Ashish and Sarthak look to find the feet of each other or attack the near post in combinations.

This formation offers several tactical advantages, such as extreme pressure on the opposition back line. By having four players high up the pitch, the team can press from the front and win the ball back high up the pitch. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads and isolate defenders in one on one situations when the wingers receive the ball.

This 4-2-4 lineup is designed for high scoring games where the team wants to control the attacking zones. It is best suited for matches against opponents who play a high defensive line and can be punished by speed in transition.
