Starting Lineup

HAKYUNG (9) · HABEEN (10) · JUNGI (7) · HUNSUNG (8) · JUNGMIN (6) · HANSEONG (11) · MUHYEOK (3) · MINJUNG (5) · YUNGBIN (4) · JAESEONG (2) · JUNHYUK (1)

Jeonbuk aims to control space through a balanced 4-4-2 formation. This lineup focuses on a compact block and quick vertical transitions to catch opponents out of position. By maintaining clear distances between the lines, the team creates a platform to win the ball back and launch direct attacks toward the goal.

JUNHYUK stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. Behind him, a flat back four keeps the team compact. JAESEONG works on the right side to overlap and provide width, while MUHYEOK covers the left flank to support the progression of play. In the middle, YUNGBIN and MINJUNG act as the central pillars, with YUNGBIN covering the right channel and MINJUNG marking the left. This defensive line works together to push up or sit deep depending on where the ball is located.

The midfield functions as a bank of four to control the center of the pitch. JUNGMIN and HUNSUNG operate in the central roles, where JUNGMIN looks to intercept passes and HUNSUNG drives forward to connect the play. On the wings, HANSEONG and JUNGI provide the width needed to stretch the opposing defense. They must track back to help the full backs when defending and quickly switch play to the opposite flank when attacking.

Jeonbuk uses a strike partnership in the final third. HAKYUNG and HABEEN operate as two forwards, working together to press the opposition defenders. HAKYUNG often plays as a more mobile threat, while HABEEN works to hold up the ball and bring others into the game. Their movement creates space for HANSEONG and JUNGI to cut inside or make late runs into the box.

This formation offers several tactical advantages for Jeonbuk. The two central midfielders, JUNGMIN and HUNSUNG, can create a numerical advantage when they sit deep to block passing lanes. Additionally, the combination of wide players and overlapping full backs allows the team to create wide overloads. This helps the team isolate defenders in one on one situations along the touchline.

The 4-4-2 is a reliable formation built for defensive solidity and rapid counter attacks. It is best suited for matches against teams that play with a high line or leave large spaces between their midfield and defense.
