Frenkie de Jong operates as the primary playmaker, using his high passing range to break the lines and move the ball forward. Gravenberch works alongside him to drive the ball through the center and press opponents in the middle third. The attacking line is extremely aggressive, utilizing two central forwards and two wide attackers. Simons and Depay operate as the central duo, with Depay often dropping slightly deeper to link play and Simons looking to run into the channels. On the wings, Gakpo cuts inside from the left to create central overloads, while Malen stays wide on the right to stretch the opposition defense. This front four presses in coordinated waves to prevent the opponent from building out from the back.

The Netherlands gain a major advantage through their ability to create wide overloads when Dumfries and Malen push forward on the right. The double pivot also allows for numerical superiority in central areas when de Jong and Gravenberch successfully step into the attacking phase.
