Cristante provides energy and presence in the middle, while Pellegrini uses his passing range to create chances.

In the attacking phase, Roma uses a heavy front four to pin the opposition back. Soulé and Ferguson occupy the wide areas, with Soulé looking to cut inside and Ferguson using his pace to stretch the defense. Dybala and Dovbyk operate as two forwards in the central channel.
