Starting Lineup

This lineup seeks to overwhelm opponents with high intensity and direct attacking play through a 4-2-4 formation. The team relies on a heavy press and quick transitions to catch the opposition out of position. This formation is built to play with extreme verticality, looking to get the ball to the front four as quickly as possible to exploit gaps behind the defensive line.

MBABA stays between the posts to organize the defensive line. A flat back four provides the foundation, with OYONO and EKOMIE acting as full backs to provide width during buildup. ECUELE MANGA and M. LEMINA occupy the central spots, where they must stay compact to prevent through balls. ECUELE MANGA uses his physical presence to win the second ball, while M. LEMINA acts as the covering defender to sweep up any runners. The defensive unit must hold a high line to support the press and squeeze the space in the middle.

The midfield works as a double pivot to provide a layer of protection for the back four. KANGA and N´DONG are tasked with shielding the defense and recycling possession when under pressure. KANGA works to drive forward with the ball to bridge the gap to the attackers, while N´DONG focuses on intercepting passes and breaking the play. These two midfielders connect the defense to the attack by playing short from the back and finding the feet of the forwards in the half spaces.

The front line consists of three attackers across the front with a two-man strike partnership. AUBAMEYANG and POKO operate as the two forwards, with AUBAMEYANG using his pace and movement to run in behind the defense. BABICKA and BOUANGA play as wide wingers who want to cut inside to create numerical superiority in the box. This attacking unit presses from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The goal is to create chances through combinations and quick one-two passes to isolate defenders in one on one situations.

This formation offers massive threat through its ability to hit in behind on the transition. By pushing the wingers and strikers high, the team creates wide overloads that force the opposition to stretch.
