Morocco prefers to play with a high press and lightning fast transitions through a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup focuses on being compact when sitting deep and finding ways to break the line quickly once the ball is won. The tactical identity relies on heavy work rates from the wide players to maintain the system.

BOUNOU acts as the last line of defense in goal to secure the backline. A back three provides the central core with EL AYNAOUI sitting deep to cover space while AGUERD and MASINA provide aerial strength and ball playing abilities. On the flanks, HAKIMI functions as an attacking wing back to push high up the pitch, whereas MAZRAOUI provides balance by covering wide areas and tracking back when the team loses possession.

The midfield operates as a double pivot to control the central zone. EL KHANNOUSS and SAIBARI work together to shield the defense and win second balls. They act as the link between the back three and the front three, with both players required to press high and recover quickly. This duo must be able to pass through lines to find the attackers in space.

Morocco utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. EL KAABI plays as the lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. BRAHIM DÍAZ cuts inside from the right to create chances, while A. EZZALZOULI stays wide on the left to provide width and deliver crosses. This attacking lineup creates constant movement to pull defenders out of position.

One major strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads through the runs of HAKIMI and MAZRAOUI. The team also benefits from a very compact defensive block that makes it difficult for opponents to play between the lines. When the ball is won, the speed of transition allows the front three to exploit gaps immediately.

This 5-2-3 formation makes Morocco a very difficult side to break down in low block situations. It is perfectly suited for games against possession based teams where counter attacking becomes the primary weapon.
