Starting Lineup
LAUTARO (Pio Esposito) · CHIESA / GNONTO * (Kamate) · M.THURAM (Bonny) · DIMARCO (Augusto) · BAKU * (Diouf) · ZIELINSKI (Sucic, Q.Timber*) · BARELLA (A.Stankovic*) · BASTONI (Baas*) · AKANJI (Alexiou) · BISSECK (Van Hecke*) · JOSEP (Atubolu*)Inter aims to control matches through a high press and rapid transitions using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the pitch by squeezing the opponent in their own half and using aggressive wide players to stretch the defense. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and move it quickly to the front three.
JOSEP stands between the posts to anchor the defense. The back three consists of AKANJI, BASTONI, and BISSECK. AKANJI acts as the central figure to mark the main striker, while BASTONI uses his passing range to start attacks from deep. BISSECK provides cover on the right side of the central unit. This defensive trio stays compact to prevent through balls and often steps up to catch attackers offside.
The midfield operates with a double pivot and two wide players. BARELLA works in the central area to drive forward and press opponents, while ZIELSKI connects the lines with his ability to break the line with passes. DIMARCO plays on the left as a wing back who likes to overlap and provide crosses into the box. On the right, BAKU pushes up to provide width and track back when the team loses possession. This unit helps Inter maintain control in the middle of the park.
In the attacking third, the team uses three forwards to pin back the opposition defense. LAUTARO leads the line as the main striker, using his movement to find space and hold up the ball. M.THURAM operates on the right wing and likes to cut inside to create goal scoring chances. CHIESA or GNONTO occupies the left wing to provide direct runs and pace. The front three work together to press the opposition back line and force turnovers.
One major advantage of this formation is the wide overload created by DIMARCO and the wingers. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to build play from the back. The central trio of AKANJI, BASTONI, and BISSECK ensures the team remains hard to break down during transitions. This creates a lot of pressure on the opposition flanks.
Inter uses this 3-4-3 to overwhelm teams through heavy pressing and wide play. This setup is most effective against opponents that struggle to play under pressure or leave space behind their full backs.
