AGF Football Formation
Starting Lineup
GK · CB · CB · CB · LWB · CDM · CDM · RWB · CAM · ST · CAMA heavy emphasis on verticality and wide attacking presence defines AGF in this 3-4-3 formation. This lineup seeks to overwhelm the opponent by stretching the play and creating quick transitions through the middle and the flanks. The team aims to control matches through aggressive positioning that forces the opposition into uncomfortable areas.
The defensive unit starts with the GK in goal, who manages the space behind the back line. A trio of central defenders consisting of CB, LCB, and RCB form a compact block to guard the central zone. The RCB and LCB must be ready to cover wide areas when the wing backs push high, while the CB acts as the anchor to sweep up long balls. This three man line provides a solid foundation to sit deep or step up depending on the ball position.
Controlling the center of the pitch relies on a double pivot consisting of CDM at LCM and CDM at RCM. These two players sit in front of the defense to intercept passes and shield the central defenders. They link the defense to the attack by recycling possession and breaking the line with forward passes. When the team pushes up, the CDMs hold their position to prevent counter attacks.
The attacking phase utilizes significant width through the LWB and RWB who act as wing backs to provide crosses. In the final third, the CAM at LW and CAM at RW cut inside to create central threats while the ST occupies the opposition center backs. This movement allows the attackers to press high and disrupt the opponent build up. The ST focuses on holding up the ball to bring the CAMs into the game.
AGF gains several advantages from this lineup, particularly the ability to create wide overloads when the LWB and RWB push forward to support the wingers. The formation also allows for high pressing in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back. By using the two CAMs to occupy the half spaces, the team can isolate wide players in one on one situations.
This 3-4-3 formation is built for aggressive, attacking football that looks to dominate through width and central pressure. It is best suited for games where the opponent plays a back four and can be stretched by constant movement.
