AGF Football Formation
Starting Lineup
GK · CB · CB · CB · LWB · CDM · CDM · RWB · CAM (31) · ST · CAM (10)High intensity pressing and rapid transitions define the tactical identity of AGF in a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm opponents in the final third while maintaining a compact block to stop breaks. By pushing the lines high, AGF looks to win the ball back quickly in the opponent's half to catch them out of position.
In goal, GK provides the first line of distribution. The defensive unit operates with a back three, consisting of CB, CB, and RCB. These central defenders must be able to step up to intercept passes and cover the space behind the midfield. The width is provided by RWB and LWB, who act as wing backs to cover the entire flank. They must track back to support the defense when the team loses the ball and push forward to provide crosses when the team is in possession.
The midfield functions as a double pivot composed of LCM and RCM. These two players sit in front of the back three to shield the defense and intercept play. They work to break the lines with vertical passes to the attackers. By controlling the central zone, LCM and RCM connect the defense to the forward line, ensuring the team stays compact during transitions.
Leading the attack, the team utilizes three forwards including RW, LW, and ST. The RW and LW act as attacking midfielders who cut inside to find space between the lines. This movement creates room for the wing backs to overlap on the outside. ST stays central to hold up the ball and act as a focal point for the attack, while the wide players press high to force errors from the opposing defenders.
AGF gains a significant advantage through wide overloads, as the wing backs and attacking midfielders can gang up on the opponent's full backs. The ability to press high in coordinated waves allows the team to suffocate opponents in their own half. Additionally, the formation allows for quick switches of play, moving the ball from one flank to the other to find isolated players in one on one situations.
This 3-4-3 formation makes AGF a highly aggressive side that thrives on winning the ball in advanced areas. It is a lineup best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
