AGF Football Formation
Starting Lineup
GK · CB · CB · CB · LWB · CDM · CDM · RWB · CAM · ST · CAMA high pressing identity drives this AGF 3-4-3 formation. The team intends to win the ball back quickly in the final third and push forward with intensity. This lineup is built to play a vertical game that forces the opposition into mistakes through constant pressure. By staying compact and aggressive, AGF can control large areas of the pitch and force turnovers near the opponent's goal.
In goal, GK sits behind a back three that forms the foundation of the defense. The central CB acts as the anchor, while the LCB and RCB provide width to the defensive line. These three defenders must stay connected to prevent gaps from appearing. The RWB and LWB act as the wide outlets, providing width in the middle third but tracking back to form a five man line when the team sits deep. This defensive unit works to block passing lanes and force play towards the crowded center.
The midfield operates as a double pivot to control the central zone. CDM on the left and CDM on the right hold their positions to shield the back three and intercept passes. These two players connect the defense to the attack by recycling possession and looking to break the line with direct passes. Their primary job is to stay disciplined and cover the spaces left behind when the wing backs push forward.
An aggressive attacking line utilizes three players to stretch the opposition. The ST leads the line, focusing on holding up the ball and making runs into the channels. On either side, the CAM on the LW and the CAM on the RW act as inverted attackers. They often cut inside to create central overloads, leaving space for the LWB and RWB to overlap. These attackers also lead the first wave of the press, forcing defenders to play long or into congested areas.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to create wide overloads. When the RWB and CAM on the RW push forward together, they isolate the opposition full back in one on one situations. Additionally, the three central defenders and two CDMs allow for a very compact block when defending a lead. The team can also transition with great speed because the CAMs are already positioned high up the pitch to receive forward passes.
This 3-4-3 formation relies on high physical output and coordinated pressing. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to dominate possession and overwhelm a deep defending opponent.
