Morocco National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
Bounou · AGUERD · EL YAMIQ · AIT BOUDLAL · N. EL AYNAOUI · S. AMRABET · A. HAKIMI · B. DIAZ · A. EZZALZOULI · A. El Kaabi · Y. En-NesyriA high pressing and vertical identity defines Morocco as they operate in a 3-4-3. The Atlas Lions look to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly transition to catch opponents out of position. This formation relies on intense energy to disrupt the opposition and create chances through rapid ball movement and wide runs.
Bounou guards the goal and acts as the foundation for the defensive unit. In front of him, a back three consists of EL YAMIQ, AGUERD, and AIT BOUDLAL. AGUERD commands the center of the defense, using his aerial strength to clear crosses and his ability to read the game to intercept passes. EL YAMIQ and AIT BOUDLAL sit on either side to cover the channels and step up when the team presses high. This back line stays compact to ensure there are no gaps between the defenders when the opponent attempts to break the lines.
The midfield works as a central block to control the center of the pitch. S. AMRABET and N. EL AYNAOUI occupy the central roles, tasked with sitting deep to shield the defenders and breaking up play. S. AMRABET uses his high pressing intensity to harass opponents in the middle third. A. HAKIMI and A. EZZALZOULI act as the wide midfielders, providing necessary width and tracking back to support the defense. They must cover the entire flank, overlapping to support the attack and dropping to form a five man line when defending deep.
Morocco pushes forward with a front three that targets the space behind the opposition back line. B. DIAZ leads the line as the lone striker, working to hold up the ball and bring others into play. A. El Kaabi and Y. En-Nesyri operate from the wide areas, looking to cut inside and threaten the goal. The forwards press in coordination, forcing mistakes from the opponent defenders and pushing the play into the final third through direct runs and quick passes.
One major advantage of this lineup is the ability to create wide overloads when A. HAKIMI pushes forward to join the attack. The team can also achieve numerical superiority in the middle during transitions, as the wide midfielders and central players converge. This allows Morocco to quickly switch play and isolate wide players in one on one situations, making them very difficult to mark.
This 3-4-3 formation provides Morocco with a balanced way to dominate through pressing and quick transitions. It is particularly effective against teams that struggle to play out from the back or those that leave large spaces behind their full backs.
