Starting Lineup

Svilar · Mancini · Dragusin · Ndicka · Celik · Cristante · Konè · Wesley · Soulè · Raspadori · Zirkzee

Prioritizing verticality and quick transitions, Roma operates within a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup aims to overwhelm opponents in the final third through aggressive movement and direct play. The team relies on high energy to win the ball back quickly and launch attacks before the opposition can settle.

Svilar stands between the posts to anchor the defensive unit. In front of him, a back three consisting of Mancini, Dragusin, and Ndicka provides a solid base. Mancini provides aerial strength and leadership in the center, while Dragusin and Ndicka cover the remaining channels to prevent central breakthroughs. The defensive unit works to push up the pitch, maintaining a high line to compress the space available to the opponent.

The midfield functions with two central players, Cristante and Konè, acting as a double pivot to control the middle. Cristante works to shield the defense and disrupt play, while Konè drives forward to connect the lines and break the opposition block. On the flanks, Celik and Wesley act as wing backs, providing much needed width and tracking back to support the defenders when out of possession.

In the attacking third, Roma deploys three forwards to stretch the play. Zirkzee operates as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and bring others into play. Soulè and Raspadori occupy the wide areas as inverted wingers, looking to cut inside and create chances. These attackers press high, forcing defenders into mistakes and creating chaos in the final third.

One major advantage for Roma is the ability to create wide overloads when Celik and Wesley overlap with the wingers. The combination of a compact midfield and a potent front three allows the team to press high in coordinated waves. This setup also allows for quick switches of play, moving the ball from one side to the other to isolate defenders in one on one situations.

This 3-4-3 formation provides a heavy offensive presence through aggressive wing play. It is a lineup best suited for facing teams that play a high defensive line and leave space behind their back four.
