A heavy emphasis on directness and physical presence defines Cameroon as they operate within a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup aims to control the central areas of the pitch while using wide midfielders to stretch the opposition. The team relies on a system built for quick transitions and high energy, making them dangerous when they win the ball in central areas.

EPASSY guards the goal and oversees the defensive unit. Behind him, a back three consists of TOLO, S. KOTTO (C), and MALONE. S. KOTTO (C) acts as the central anchor, leading the line and organizing the defenders. TOLO and MALONE sit on either side to cover the channels and engage attackers before they reach the central zone. This defensive block can sit deep to protect the middle or step up to squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield acts as the engine room for Cameroon through a five man unit. BALEBA sits in the defensive midfield role to shield the back three and break up play. To his left and right, NAMASO and EBONG occupy the central positions to connect the defense to the attack. They work to win second balls and drive the team forward through short passes. On the flanks, YONGWA and TCHAMADEU provide the width, pushing high to support the attack and tracking back to help the defenders when the ball is lost.

The attacking threat comes from two forwards working in close proximity. KOFANE and MBEUMO lead the line, with MBEUMO often using his pace and ability to cut inside to trouble defenders. They press the opposition backline high to force errors and turnovers. By playing with two strikers, the team creates central overload situations that force opposing center backs to make difficult decisions. The wingers, YONGWA and TCHAMADEU, provide the necessary width to pull the defensive block apart.

One major advantage for Cameroon is the ability to create numerical superiority in the middle of the park. With BALEBA, NAMASO, and EBONG, the team can often outnumber opponents in central zones. Another strength is the ability to overlap or underlap through the wide midfielders to create crosses. The compactness of the three central defenders and the three central midfielders makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle.

This 3-5-2 formation provides a balance of defensive solidity and aggressive verticality. It is best suited for games where Cameroon needs to dominate the center of the pitch and strike quickly on the break.
