Svilar stands between the posts to command the area and launch play from the back. The defensive unit operates with a back three of Mancini, Ndicka, and Hermoso. Mancini acts as the central anchor, using his aerial strength and physical presence to clear danger. Ndicka and Hermoso cover the left and right channels of the central trio, ready to step up or drop deep as needed. Wesley pushes forward from the right as a wing back to provide width, while the left wing back covers the flank to help the defense when they sit deep.

A double pivot controls the center of the pitch to bridge the gap between the back line and the attack. Konè and EL AYNAOUI work to shield the defense and break the lines with their passing.
