Starting Lineup
Erison (Brazil) · Marcinho (Brazil) · Yasuto (Wakizaka) (Japan) · Akihiro (Ienaga) (Japan) · Tachibanada (Japan) · Kawahara (Japan) · Sõta (Miura) (Japan) · Jesiel (Brazil) · Filip (Uremović) (Croatia) · Sai van (Wermeskerken) (Japan) · Jung (Sung Ryong) (South Korea)A high press and aggressive verticality define this team, which operates in a 3-4-3 formation. The lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately hit the opposition in transition. This system relies on intense energy to squeeze the space and force mistakes from the opponent, creating many opportunities through quick direct play.
Erison plays between the posts to start the build up. The back three consists of Yasuto acting as the central pillar, while Akihiro and Marcinho operate as wide centre-backs. Akihiro and Marcinho are tasked to step up to intercept passes and cover the wide areas when the wingers push high. Yasuto remains more central to win the header and manage the depth of the defensive line. This unit works to maintain a high line to keep the team compact.
The midfield relies on a double pivot of Kawahara and Tachibanada to control the center. Kawahara and Tachibanada act as the engine, working to win the second ball and protect the space in front of the defenders. Ahead of them, Sai van and Sõta operate in the half-spaces as attacking midfielders. Sai van and Sõta look to find pockets of space between the lines to connect the midfield to the front three. They are responsible to carry the ball forward and provide the final pass.
In the attacking third, the team uses three attackers to pin the last defender. Jesiel and Filip act as wide wingers who stretch the defence by staying near the touchline, while Jung operates as a lone striker. Jung is tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of the oncoming midfielders. Jesiel and Filip look to cut inside to create shooting lanes or deliver crosses. The movement of the front three is designed to create runs in behind and isolate defenders in one on one situations.
One major strength of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By having Sai van and Sõta positioned high, the team can trigger a press immediately after losing possession. Another advantage is the width provided by Jesiel and Filip, which forces the opposition to spread wide and opens gaps in the middle for Kawahara or Tachibanada to exploit. This creates a constant threat during transitions.
This formation is built for a high intensity game that relies on winning the ball high up the pitch. It is best suited for facing opponents who struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
