Lucas Perri stands between the posts to organize the back three. Rodon plays as the left central defender, while Strujik holds the center to command the area and Bijol operates on the right. The central defenders must be ready to step up to intercept through balls or drop deep to protect the space behind the high line.

A crowded midfield engine room provides the backbone for the Leeds team. Ampadu sits in the left defensive midfield role to shield the back three, while Stach acts as the right defensive midfielder to monitor runners. In front of them, G. Gudmundsson and Bogle operate in the central midfield roles to drive the ball forward and connect the defense to the attack.
