Jan stands between the posts to command the penalty area. In front of him, the back four works to maintain a tight line, with Dávid and José María acting as the central defensive pairing to block crosses and intercept through balls. Matteo and Marcos provide the width from the flanks, often staying deep to protect the zone, though they will step up to support the buildup. The defensive unit must shift together to cover spaces and prevent runners from breaking the line.

The midfield functions as a trio designed to control the central corridor. By using the passing range of the midfield, the team can quickly switch play to the wings. Another advantage is the compactness of the unit, which makes it very difficult for opponents to find passing lanes through the middle. This makes the team incredibly hard to break down in half spaces.
