Unai Simon stays between the posts to command the area and distribute the ball. The back line operates as a flat four with Jesus Areso providing width at right back and Yuri Berchiche pushing up on the left to overlap. In the center, Dani Vivian and Laporte act as the defensive pillars. Laporte functions as a ball playing defender to start attacks from the back, while Dani Vivian provides strength and covers the space if the full backs push too high.

A double pivot holds the middle of the pitch to maintain balance. Ruiz de Galarreta acts as the playmaker to connect the defense to the front four, using his passing range to break the line and find the attackers. Beside him, Jauregizar provides the necessary engine to shield the back four and track back when possession is lost. This duo must work hard to sit deep when under pressure to prevent the team from being overrun in central areas.

The front line is incredibly potent with four dedicated attackers. Nico Williams and Alex Berenguer occupy the wide areas, with Nico Williams using his dribbling and explosive pace to cut inside from the left. In the center, Oihan Sancet and Inaki Williams lead the press to disrupt the opponent. Inaki Williams uses his speed to run into channels, while Oihan Sancet works to hold up the ball and link the attack with the midfield.

This formation offers massive width through the combination of attacking full backs and wide forwards. Athletic can create overloads on the flanks by having Jesus Areso overlap to support Alex Berenguer. The team also gains a significant advantage in transition speed, as the four forwards can immediately push forward to exploit gaps. This allows the team to isolate wide players in one on one situations frequently.
