LUCÃO · ZÉ (CARLOS) · BUATU · MARVIN (ELIMBI) · GHISLAIN (KONAN) · MOHAMED (BAMBA) · FACUNDO (CÁSERES) · LUÍS (ESTEVES) · MARTÍN (FERNÁNDEZ) · JOELSON (FERNANDES) · GUSTAVO (VARELA)Dominating the ball and pushing high up the pitch defines the Gil Vicente lineup in a 4-3-3. This formation builds a direct and aggressive game aimed at controlling the tempo. Gil Vicente looks to use their wide players to stretch the opposition and create gaps in the center of the pitch.
LUCÃO sits between the posts to organize the back line. A flat back four consists of ZÉ at right back and GHISLAIN at left back, while BUATU and MARVIN occupy the center. ZÉ and GHISLAIN often push up to provide width, allowing the central defenders to cover the space behind them. BUATU and MARVIN must stay compact to block passing lanes and win aerial duels when the team sits deep.
The midfield operates as a trio that connects the defense to the forward line. MOHAMED and FACUNDO sit deeper to shield the back four and intercept passes. They act as the engine, breaking the lines with their passing before finding LUÍS in the hole. As the attacking midfielder, LUÍS looks to turn between the lines and find pockets of space to create chances for the front three.
A three man attack provides the main goal threat for the club. GUSTAVO leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and bring others into play. On the flanks, MARTÍN and JOELSON act as inverted wingers who look to cut inside and shoot. They press the opposition full backs aggressively to win the ball back high up the pitch.
This formation offers the advantage of wide overloads when the full backs overlap the wingers. The team can also press high in coordinated waves to force turnovers in the final third. By using LUÍS to occupy the space between the opponent midfield and defense, Gil Vicente can isolate their attackers in one on one situations.
A high pressing 4-3-3 allows this team to dictate the rhythm of the match through ball retention. This lineup is best suited for games against opponents who struggle to build out from the back under pressure.
