Antwerp Football Formation
Starting Lineup
TAISHI (BRANDON NOZAWA) · SEMM (RENDERS) · KIKI (KOUYATÉ) · ZENO VAN (DEN BOSCH) · DAMM (FOULON) · MAURICIO (BENÍTEZ) · DENNIS (PRAET) · ISAAC (BABADI) · THIBO (SOMERS) · GYRANO (KERK) · VINCENT (JANSSEN)A high press and quick transitions define the identity of Antwerp in a 4-3-3. This formation seeks to win the ball high up the pitch to catch opponents out of position. By pressing in coordinated waves, the team looks to dominate the game through verticality and speed. Antwerp relies on this system to control the rhythm of matches and create direct attacking opportunities.
TAISHI starts the build up from the back as the goalkeeper. In front of him, a flat back four provides the foundation for the defensive unit. SEMM acts as the right back to provide width, while DAMM covers the left flank. The central defenders, ZENO VAN and KIKI, must stay compact to protect the middle. KIKI and ZENO VAN need to step up to intercept passes and cover the space behind the full backs when they push forward.
The midfield consists of a trio designed to link the defense to the forward line. MAURICIO and DENNIS operate in the central roles to control the tempo and shield the back four. ISAAC plays as an attacking midfielder to find pockets of space between the lines. MAURICIO and DENNIS must track back to help the defense, while ISAAC looks to drive forward and deliver the final ball. This midfield unit works to break the line with direct passes.
Three attackers lead the offensive efforts through wide and central movements. GYRANO stays wide on the left to stretch the opposition defense, while THIBO looks to cut inside from the right wing. VINCENT acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. The wingers push high to support the full backs, creating wide overloads that force the opposition to shift across the pitch.
One major advantage for Antwerp is the ability to create numerical superiority in the wide areas. When SEMM or DAMM overlap, they create two on one situations against the opposing full back. The team also benefits from its ability to press high, using VINCENT and the wingers to force mistakes in the opponent's defensive third. This high pressure allows the midfield trio to intercept the ball and launch immediate attacks.
This 4-3-3 formation creates a constant threat through aggressive pressing and wide play. It is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate possession or exploit a high defensive line.
