Starting Lineup

Requiem · Gvt · Sebby · Shadow · Kidbuu · Erd · natsu · Divinity · Shinra · Beatrix · Haze

Prioritizing defensive solidity and quick transitions defines the Roma lineup in a 5-4-1. This formation focuses on sitting deep to deny space between the lines and waiting for the right moment to strike. By controlling the middle of the pitch through a compact block, Roma intends to frustrate opponents and break them apart on the counter.

Requiem guards the goal while a back five forms the foundation of the defensive unit. Gvt holds the center of the defense, supported by Sebby on the right and Shadow on the left. The wing backs, Haze and Beatrix, are tasked with providing width and tracking back to support the central trio. This back line stays connected to prevent gaps, with the wing backs dropping into a flat five when the team sits deep to block crosses and passing lanes.

In the middle of the pitch, a four man unit controls the tempo and provides cover. natsu sits in front of the defense as a single pivot to shield the back line and intercept passes. Erd, Shinra, and Kidbuu operate in the midfield line to mark opponents and press when needed. This group works to connect the defense to the attack by winning the ball and immediately finding outlets to break the lines.

The attacking phase relies on the movement of Divinity as a lone striker. Divinity holds up the ball to allow the midfielders to push forward and join the attack. The wide players, Haze and Beatrix, push high to provide width and deliver crosses into the box. This setup forces the midfielders to make late runs into the area to support the lone forward in the final third.

Several tactical advantages come from this 5-4-1 formation. The primary benefit is the numerical superiority in the defensive zone, making it hard for opponents to find space in the box. Roma can also create wide overloads when Haze and Beatrix overlap to support the midfield. The team can switch play quickly to isolate wide players in one on one situations once they win the ball back.

Roma remains difficult to break down because of this compact defensive organization. This formation is best suited for matches against dominant teams where sitting deep and catching them on the break is the priority.
