Starting Lineup

Requiem · Gvt · Sebby · Shadow · Kidbuu · Erd · natsu · Divinity · Shinra · Beatrix · Sangs

A focus on defensive solidity and quick transitions defines the Roma lineup in this 5-4-1 formation. This system relies on a compact block to deny space in the middle before launching direct balls forward. The team is built to absorb pressure and strike when opponents push too high up the pitch.

Requiem stays between the posts to command the area from the back. A back five provides a heavy layer of protection with Sebby acting as the central anchor while Shadow and Gvt cover the spaces to his left and right. The wing backs Beatrix and Sangs are tasked with tracking back to form a deep line when out of possession, but they must also step up to support the midfield. This defensive unit works together to stay close and block passing lanes through the center.

The midfield operates as a flat bank of four to protect the defense. natsu sits in front of the back line as the single pivot to shield the center and intercept passes. Erd and Shinra work to control the middle, with Erd often looking to break the line with a pass. Kidbuu occupies the right side of the midfield to link the play and help the wing backs. This group connects the defensive unit to the lone striker by winning second balls and switching play quickly.

Divinity operates as a lone striker at the top of the formation. The attacking plan revolves around Divinity holding up the ball to allow the midfielders to join the play. Without immediate support from other forwards, the wide players must provide the necessary width to stretch the opposition. When Roma win the ball back, the forwards press to force errors while the midfielders push up to support the central presence.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to remain compact when defending deep in their own half. The five defenders and four midfielders make it very hard for opponents to find gaps. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads when Beatrix and Sangs push forward during a counter attack. This setup can also isolate Divinity in one on one situations if the midfielders can deliver precise balls into space.

Roma relies on this formation to frustrate teams that want to control possession. It is a tactical choice best suited for matches against heavy favorites or opponents that play with high defensive lines.
