LASK Football Formation
Starting Lineup
TOBIAS (SCHÜTZENAUER) · ART (SMAKAJ) · XAVIER (MBUYAMBA) · JOÃO (TORNICH) · FLORIAN (FLECKER) · GEORGE (BELLO) · ADETUNJI (ADESHINA) · MOHAMED (SANOGO) · CHRISTOPH (LANG) · SASA (KALAJDZIC) · MAXIMILIAN (ENTRUP)A high pressing intent drives the tactical identity of LASK in this 3-5-2 formation. This lineup works to dominate the middle of the pitch and force turnovers high up the field to launch quick attacks. By using a compact block, the team seeks to control the tempo and disrupt the opponent through constant pressure.
TOBIAS acts as the last line of defense behind a central back three. JOÃO sits on the left side of the back line while ART covers the right, leaving XAVIER to command the center. These defenders stay close together to prevent gaps from opening up between them. The wide players GEORGE and FLORIAN must track back deep to help the defensive unit, effectively turning the formation into a five man back line when the team sits deep to protect the goal.
The midfield consists of a central trio that links the defense to the attack. CHRISTOPH operates in the hole as the attacking midfielder to create chances. Adetunji and Mohamed work in the central spaces to shield the back three and intercept passes. They must drive forward to support the strikers while ensuring they do not leave the defense exposed. This central presence allows LASK to control the ball and dictate how the game moves from one end to the pitch to the other.
LASK utilizes two forwards to stretch the opposition defense. SASA and Maximilian lead the line, often operating as a pair to hold up the ball and pull defenders out of position. The wide midfielders, GEORGE and FLORIAN, provide much needed width by pushing high up the pitch to overlap and deliver crosses into the box. This setup creates a vertical threat that forces the opponent to defend both the wide areas and the central zone.
One major advantage of this lineup is the ability to create numerical superiority in the center of the pitch. With CHRISTOPH, Adetunji, and Mohamed all operating centrally, the team can easily overwhelm a standard midfield. Another strength is the speed of transition when the team wins the ball back. The combination of wide players and a two man strike force allows for rapid attacks that catch opponents out of position before they can settle.
This 3-5-2 formation relies on high intensity to disrupt the rhythm of the game. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle with ball retention under pressure or those that play with a narrow midfield.
