Custom Team Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Keelan · Turner · Carmichael · Artur · Wooler · Lignos · Cantillo · Weller · Wit · Keïta · TokotoA direct and vertical way of playing is the foundation for this team using a 4-4-2 formation. The lineup focuses on winning the second ball and hitting the opposition quickly through the middle or out wide. This system aims to control the tempo by using a compact block that can transition into an attack with great speed.
Keelan stays between the posts to guard the goal. In front of him, the defense operates in a flat back four. Artur plays as the right back and is tasked to overlap the winger to provide width. Wooler occupies the left back position to help the midfield and provide crosses. Turner acts as the right centre back, while Carmichael plays as the left centre back. Turner and Carmichael work together to defend zonally and clear the lines when under pressure.
The midfield functions as a block of four to control the central areas. Lignos sits as a single pivot to shield the defense and pick up runners. Beside him, Weller and Cantillo act as the two central midfielders to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Weller looks to carry the ball forward, while Cantillo works to intercept passes and recycle possession. Wit plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers, operating in the space between the opposition midfield and defense to find the feet of the strikers.
The attack uses two forwards in a partnership to pin the last defender. Tokoto plays as the left striker and works to find space in behind the defense. Keïta operates as the right striker to hold up the ball and lay it off to oncoming runners. These two forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The team uses the width provided by Artur and Wooler to create situations where they can cut it back to the arriving midfielders.
One major advantage is the ability to compress the midfield and deny the turn to opposing playmakers. The team can also create wide overloads by having Artur and Weller push up together. This formation allows the team to win it back high up the pitch when the ball is lost in the final third.
This 4-4-2 formation is built to play with high intensity and quick verticality. It is best suited for matches against teams that play with a high line and can be exploited with runs in behind.
