LASK Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Bello · Andrade · Jørgensen · Tornich · Entrup · Usor · Lang · Danek · Berisha · Horvath · JungwirthHigh intensity pressing and rapid verticality define the LASK lineup in a 2-5-3 formation. This system aims to dominate the middle of the pitch and overwhelm opponents through aggressive ball recovery and quick transitions. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch to catch the opposition out of position before they can settle into a defensive block.
Jungwirth acts as the last line of defense in goal. Behind a central pairing of Andrade and Tornich, the defensive unit functions with a high line to compress the space in front of them. Because there are only two central defenders, they must remain compact and communicate constantly to cover the wide areas. This back two relies on the five midfielders to provide immediate pressure and prevent direct passes from reaching the central zone.
The midfield acts as the engine room for LASK, utilizing a five man unit to control the center. Bello and Jørgensen form a double pivot to shield the defense and intercept passes. Ahead of them, Berisha and Horvath occupy the central spaces to connect the play and drive the ball forward. Lang operates in the attacking midfield role to create chances and break the lines with vertical passes. This five man block allows the team to pass through the middle or shift the ball quickly to the wings.
In the final third, the formation pushes three attackers toward the goal. Entrup leads the line as a lone striker to hold up the ball and engage the opposition center backs. On the flanks, Danek and Usor provide width and act as wide attackers to stretch the defense. They look to cut inside or deliver crosses into the box while the midfield players push up to support the attack.
This lineup offers a significant numerical superiority in the midfield, making it very difficult for opponents to find space between the lines. The coordinated waves of pressing from the front three and the five midfielders make it hard for teams to build from the back. LASK can also quickly switch play to isolate Danek or Usor in one on one situations on the wing.
The 2-5-3 formation focuses on central dominance and aggressive ball winning. It is best suited for games where the team wants to dominate possession and face opponents who struggle with high pressure.
