A heavy emphasis on defensive solidity and quick transitions defines this lineup, which operates in a 5-2-3 formation. The team looks to sit in a compact mid-block and wait for the right moment to hit teams in behind. This system is built to absorb pressure and then use the wide areas to break quickly once the ball is won back.

Goalie acts as the last line of defense behind a deep back five. The central defensive unit consists of AY, Victory, and Festus, who stay narrow to protect the middle of the pitch. Festus and AY focus on defending zonally and winning the second ball, while Victory provides cover behind the line. Zeyaf and Timi act as attacking wing backs, pushing high up the pitch to provide width and stretch the opposition defense. When the team loses the ball, Zeyaf and Timi must track back to restore the five man line.

The midfield relies on a double pivot consisting of Saxie and David. These two midfielders are tasked with shielding the defense and disrupting the opposition in the middle third. David works to connect the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession, while Saxie looks to carry the ball forward and break the line with vertical passes. They must stay compact to prevent the opposition from playing through the center.

Up front, the team uses three attackers to stretch the play. Maxwell plays as a lone striker and works to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. On the flanks, Dave and Wizard act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to create space in the channels. Dave and Wizard are expected to press from the front to force a long ball and win the ball high up the pitch. This attacking trio works to create runs in behind and isolations for the wingers.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when Zeyaf and Timi push forward to join the wingers. This makes it difficult for the opposition to defend the flanks. The team also benefits from extreme compactness when defending, as the five defenders and two midfielders squeeze the space in the middle. This makes it very hard for opponents to find passing lanes through the center.

This 5-2-3 formation is built for teams that want to defend a lead or exploit space on the counter. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession but leave gaps behind their defensive line.
