Focusing on direct attacking transitions and defensive solidity, this team operates in a 5-2-3 formation. The lineup aims to absorb pressure before hitting the opposition with speed through wide areas and a central striker. This setup allows for a very narrow defensive block when out of possession, while providing plenty of numbers to support the forward line when winning the ball back.

In goal, CORNO acts as the last line of defense. The back line consists of a central trio of LETA, DE NISI, and BRUNO who sit deep to protect the area. LETA holds the line in the center, while DE NISI and BRUNO cover the channels to prevent runners from getting through. The wide defenders, MAGNAVITA as the right wing back and CANNATARO as the left wing back, are expected to push high to provide width, but they must track back quickly to form a back five when the opponent has the ball.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. CASELLA and BOSCAGLIA sit in front of the back five to shield the defense and recycle possession. CASELLA works to pick up runners and cover ground, while BOSCAGLIA looks to connect the defensive line to the attackers. This pair must be disciplined to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle, often forcing the play wide where the wing backs and defenders can double up on opponents.

The attacking unit uses three forwards to stretch the opposition defense. PERCIA MONTANI acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. On the flanks, GUALTIERI plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside, while CARUSO operates on the right to provide width or drive at the defense. This trio works together to press from the front, trying to force a long ball and win the second ball to start a quick break.

A major tactical strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads. When MAGNAVITA and CANNATARO push forward, they join the wingers to overwhelm the opposition full backs. Another advantage is the compactness when defending, as the five defenders and two midfielders make it very difficult for opponents to find space between the lines. This makes the team very hard to break down in a low block.

This formation relies on strong defensive discipline and rapid transitions to catch opponents off guard. It is best suited for games against teams that control possession, allowing this side to sit deep and strike on the break.
