SK Rapid Football Formation
Starting Lineup
J. Auer · Bolla · Raux Yao · Cvetkovic · Antiste · Demir · Wurmbrand · Gulliksen · Seidl · Amane · GartlerHigh pressing and aggressive verticality define the tactical identity of SK Rapid within this 2-5-3 formation. This lineup seeks to dominate the ball in the middle third and force turnovers high up the pitch to catch opponents off guard. By spreading the pitch wide, the team creates plenty of space to move the ball forward quickly.
Gartler sits between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line consists of a pair of central defenders, Raux Yao and Cvetkovic, who must stay concentrated to prevent long balls from getting behind them. Because there are only two defenders in the back, they often step up to intercept passes or cover for the midfield. This high line requires constant communication to ensure they do not get caught out by direct play.
Control of the center relies on a dense midfield of five players. Bolla and J. Auer act as a double pivot to shield the defense and break up opposition play. Ahead of them, Seidl and Amane operate in the half spaces to connect the play and drive the ball into the final third. Gulliksen occupies the attacking midfield role to create chances and find pockets of space between the opponent lines.
The attacking unit utilizes three players to pin back the opposition defense. Antiste leads the line as the lone striker to hold up the ball and link up with the wide men. Wurmbrand and Demir operate as wide attackers, with Wurmbrand cutting inside from the left and Demir pushing from the right. This front three works together to press the opposing back line and create space through constant movement.
SK Rapid gains a massive advantage through numerical superiority in the central areas. Having five players in midfield makes it very difficult for opponents to bypass the middle part of the pitch. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads, as the midfielders can push high to support the wingers. This allows the team to pin the opposition deep into their own half.
This 2-5-3 formation is designed for teams that want to squeeze the play and dominate through ball retention. It is best suited for games against opponents who sit deep and struggle to handle high intensity pressing.
