Alex Sandro and Varela provide width on the flanks, with Alex Sandro often tucking inside to help control the middle while Varela pushes forward to overlap. The defensive unit works to keep the distance between the lines small to prevent any space between the back four and the midfield.

Control of the center of the pitch is managed through a midfield three. Pulgar sits in front of the defense to shield the back line and break up play through tackles and interceptions. Jorginho connects the play, using his passing range to move the ball from deep areas to the attacking third. Arrascaeta operates in the pocket behind the striker, acting as the primary creator to break the line with through balls and finding space between the opponent lines.

The attacking unit moves in a way that stretches the defense. Pedro leads the line as a lone striker, focusing on his ability to hold up the ball and his aerial strength to target crosses. Cebolinha stays wide on the left to take on defenders and cut inside, creating space for others. Paquetá operates from the right wing, drifting into central areas to link up with Arrascaeta and add extra numbers to the attacking movements.

Flamengo gains a massive advantage through numerical superiority in the midfield when Jorginho and Arrascaeta move into advanced positions. The team can also create wide overloads when Varela pushes high, allowing Paquetá to shift inside. This creates isolated one on one situations for Cebolinha on the opposite flank, making the attack difficult to track.
