High pressing and verticality define the tactical identity of Lazio as they operate in a 3-4-3. This formation seeks to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately push forward to catch the opposition out of position. By spreading the pitch wide, the lineup aims to stretch the defensive lines and create gaps for quick runners to exploit in the final third.

Provedel stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit from the back. A back three consisting of Romagnoli, Gila, and Provstgaard forms the foundation of the defense. Romagnoli acts as the leader of the group, while Gila and Provstgaard provide cover and aerial strength to handle crosses. The wide players, Tavares and Belahyane, act as wing backs who must cover the entire flank, pushing up to support the attack and dropping back to form a five man line when the team loses possession.

The midfield relies on a central pair to control the tempo and protect the center of the pitch. Rovella and Taylor work to shield the back three, with Rovella often dropping deep to collect the ball and break the line with forward passes. This duo connects the defensive unit to the front line, ensuring the ball moves quickly from the deep areas into the attacking zones. They must stay compact to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.

Lazio utilizes three attackers to maintain constant pressure on the opponent. Ratkov leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and pin the opposing center backs. Zaccagni and Isaksen operate as wide attackers who often cut inside to create shooting opportunities or overload the central areas. Their movement forces the opposition defenders to shift constantly, creating space for the midfielders to arrive late in the box.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when Tavares and Belahyane push high to support the wingers. The team can also press high in coordinated waves, using the front three and the wing backs to trap opponents near their own goal. This creates high turnover opportunities that lead to immediate attacking threats.

This 3-4-3 formation relies on intense running and quick transitions to overwhelm the opponent. Lazio will find success against teams that struggle to manage wide areas or those that play a high defensive line.
