This lineup aims to suffocate the opposition in their own half by flooding the central areas and forcing turnovers deep. The heavy concentration of players in the middle zones means the team wants to control the tempo through constant pressure and quick transitions once the ball is won.

Jan Oblak stands alone between the posts to provide security during transitions. The defensive unit relies on a pair of central defenders in Hancko and Pubill to hold a very high line. Since there are no full backs, Hancko and Pubill must be quick to cover the wide channels and intercept long balls. They act as the last line of defense, stepping up to intercept passes and using their positioning to block through balls before the opposition can exploit the space behind them.

The midfield is the engine of this formation, operating as a massive block of six players. Llorente sits in the single pivot role to shield the two defenders and break up play. Ahead of him, Koke operates as a central playmaker, using his passing range to move the ball forward. Ruggeri and Barrios provide much needed energy in the central roles, helping to press and win back possession. Baena and Giuliano occupy the half spaces as attacking midfielders, looking to break the lines with vertical passes and quick movements.

Attacking the opposition involves two forwards who push the line even higher. Lookman and Julian lead the front line, often operating as two mobile strikers who look to run into channels. Lookman uses his dribbling style to take on defenders, while Julian focuses on finding space in the box. They press the opposing center backs relentlessly, forcing hurried clearances that the six midfielders can then collect. The goal is to create chaos in the final third through constant movement and directness.

One major advantage for Atlético is the massive numerical superiority in the center of the pitch. With six players in the middle, they can easily outnumber most midfields and win second balls. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, with the two strikers and four attacking midfielders swarming the ball. This setup also creates opportunities to isolate Lookman and Julian in one on one situations if the opposition defense is stretched too wide.

This extreme formation focuses on total midfield dominance and aggressive hunting of the ball. It is best suited for matches where the opponent struggles to play out from the back under intense pressure.
