Dominating space through a high press and rapid transitions, Inter operates with a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to control the pitch by squeezing the opponent in their own half and forcing errors. The team relies on verticality to move the ball from the back to the front quickly, aiming to catch the opposition out of position.

Vicario stands between the posts to act as the first line of defense. In front of him, the back three consists of Solet, Akanji, and Bastoni. Akanji provides strength in the air and covers space centrally, while Bastoni acts as a ball playing defender to start attacks from deep. Solet completes the trio to ensure the back line remains compact. The wide players in this system do not function as traditional full backs but as wing backs who must cover the entire flank.

The midfield works in a central block to bridge the gap between the defense and the attack. Barella and Zielinski occupy the central roles, with Barella known for his high work rate and ability to drive forward into space. They connect the play by switching the ball wide to the wing backs, Dimarco and Mingueza. Dimarco pushes high to provide width and deliver crosses, while Mingueza tracks back to support the defense when needed. This midfield unit must press intensely to prevent the opponent from building play through the middle.

Attacking the final third requires high energy from the front line. Diaby and Lautaro operate from wide positions, often looking to cut inside and create goal scoring chances. Lautaro works to press the opposition defenders and can also drop deeper to help the build up. Pio Esposito leads the line as the lone striker, tasked with holding up the ball and making runs to break the line. The movement of the three attackers is designed to stretch the defensive block and create gaps for the midfielders to exploit.

Inter gains a significant advantage through wide overloads when Dimarco and Mingueza overlap the wingers. This creates constant pressure on the opponent's full backs. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three and the central midfielders to trap players near the touchline. The compactness of the formation makes it difficult for opponents to play through the center once the initial press is bypassed.
