Starting Lineup

M. (Ammar) · Naji · M. Ali · Amged · Mirgany · Mahmoud · Khalifa · Abdalatif · Hisham · M. Alkhatim · M. Abdallah

A heavy emphasis on defensive solidity and quick transitions defines this lineup, which operates within a 5-3-2 formation. The team aims to stay compact when out of possession and use the width of the wing backs to stretch the opposition once the ball is won. This formation is built to play as a counter attacking unit that can quickly move from a deep block to a forward thrust.

M. guards the goal and oversees the defensive line. The back line consists of a back five featuring Mahmoud as the central anchor. Amged sits to the left of Mahmoud as a ball playing defender, while M. Ali operates as the right sided central defender to provide cover. The wide defenders, Mirgany and Naji, act as attacking wing backs to provide much needed width. Mirgany and Naji will push high up the pitch to support the attack, while the central three stay narrow to protect the middle.

The midfield functions as a three man midfield with a carrier. Khalifa and Abdalatif work in the central spaces to shield the defense and win the second ball. Khalifa acts as the primary engine to drive forward with the ball, while Abdalatif stays slightly deeper to connect the defensive and attacking lines. M. Alkhatim plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to link play and arrive late into the box. This midfield trio ensures the team can transition from a mid block to a direct attack very quickly.

The attacking structure utilizes two forwards in a partnership. M. Abdallah plays as a lone striker on the left, while Hisham operates as the right sided striker. These two forwards are expected to press the opposition back line to force a long ball. They often work in combinations to pull defenders out of position, creating space for M. Alkhatim or the wing backs to exploit. The team relies on these two to hold up the ball and wait for runners to arrive from deep.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its compactness when defending and the ability to create wide overloads. When Mirgany and Naji push forward, they create situations where the opposition must defend large areas of the pitch. The team also benefits from numerical superiority in the central areas during defensive transitions, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines.

The team relies on a strong defensive foundation to launch rapid attacks. This 5-3-2 formation is best suited for facing teams that dominate possession and allow for space to be exploited on the break.
