Starting Lineup
Marvin (PSG) · Vlad (PSG) · Fishy (PSG) · David (PSG) · Sly (PSG) · P1 (Le Mans) · GK (Le Mans) · p2 (Le Mans) · p3 (Le Mans) · p4 (Le Mans) · ball (Cholet)A focus on compact defending and quick transitions defines this 4-5-1 lineup. The team aims to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting the opposition on the break. This formation is built to congest the central areas and deny space to the opponent, making it hard for them to play through the lines.
Marvin plays between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back four consists of p3 at right back and David at left back, acting as wide defenders who must balance their defensive duties with providing width. Sly and Fishy operate as the central defenders, tasked with winning the second ball and clearing the lines when under heavy pressure. The defensive unit works to keep a narrow defensive block to prevent the opposition from finding gaps between the players.
The midfield is a five man unit designed to dominate the central zones. At the base, p2 and p4 form a double pivot to shield the defence and disrupt play. Ahead of them, Vlad, ball, and P1 operate as a three man midfield with a carrier. Vlad and P1 provide the energy to press in a mid-block, while ball works to connect the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession. This midfield group works to squeeze the space and force the opponent to play long.
Up top, the team relies on a lone striker, GK, to lead the line. GK must hold up the ball to allow the midfield to push forward during transitions. The wide midfielders support the attack by spreading wide to stretch the defence, creating lanes for the midfielders to run into. When the team loses possession, the forwards press from the front to trigger a press and prevent easy progression for the opponent.
This formation offers significant advantages through its density in the middle of the pitch. The double pivot of p2 and p4 provides a solid foundation that makes it difficult for teams to play through the center. Additionally, the team can use the speed of transition to catch opponents off guard once the ball is won. By crowding the half spaces, the players make it very hard for the opposition to find passing lanes.
The tactical identity revolves around defensive solidity and efficient counter attacks. This lineup is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession and require a team to defend in a low block.
