A focus on a mid-block and quick transitions defines this 4-5-1 formation. The lineup is built to sit compact in the middle of the pitch and wait for the right moment to break forward. This setup relies on controlling the central spaces and using the wide areas to stretch the opposition when possession is won.

Marvin acts as the last line of defense in goal. The back four functions as a zonal line to maintain distance between the units. P1 and david operate as the central defenders, where david focuses on being dominant in the air and P1 works to cover the space behind him. The full backs, fishy on the left and sly on the right, must be disciplined to prevent being caught too high up the pitch. They focus on defending the flanks and showing the winger outside to keep the central area congested.

The midfield is a five man unit that provides a heavy presence in the center. A three man midfield featuring P2, ball, and P4 serves as the engine room. P2 and ball work to shield the defense and win the second ball, while P4 plays as an attacking ten behind the striker. To provide width, Vlad on the left and P3 on the right push up to help the attack. This group must press in a mid-block to force a long ball from the opponent and ensure the connections between the defensive line and the lone striker are maintained.

In the attacking phase, the team relies on a lone striker, GK, to lead the line. Because there is only one forward, GK must be able to hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to join the play. The attack is built through the wide players, Vlad and P3, who look to carry the ball forward or deliver crosses into the box. P4 searches for space between the lines to arrive late into the box. When the team wins the ball, they look to hit in behind on the transition to catch the opponent out of position.

One major strength is the ability to maintain compactness when defending. By crowding the middle, the team makes it difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Another advantage is the ability to create wide overloads. When fishy or sly push forward, they combine with Vlad or P3 to create two on one situations against the opposition full backs. This allows the team to switch play effectively and find space on the flanks.

This 4-5-1 formation creates a very difficult block for teams that rely on central passing combinations. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to sit deep and use the speed of the midfielders to counter at pace.
