Starting Lineup
Vlad (PSG) · Marvin (PSG) · sly (PSG) · fishy (PSG) · david (PSG) · GK (Le Mans) · P1 (Le Mans) · P3 (Le Mans) · P2 (Le Mans) · P4 (Le Mans) · ball (Le Mans)A focus on high intensity pressing and rapid vertical attacks defines this lineup in a 2-4-4. This formation seeks to overwhelm the opposition in their own half by committing bodies forward to force turnovers. The team aims to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately strike before the defensive block can settle.
Marvin acts as the lone goalkeeper behind a very high defensive line. The two central defenders, P1 and fishy, operate in a way that requires constant communication to sweep behind the high line and cover for the attacking players. P1 and fishy must be ready to sprint back to deal with long balls, as they act as the final barrier before Marvin. Because there are only two defenders, the unit must stay compact to prevent being bypassed easily in transition.
The midfield functions as a box where four players occupy the central and wide areas to control the tempo. P4 and P2 form a central pairing to control the middle, where P4 works to shield the defense and P2 looks to carry the ball forward into the half spaces. On the flanks, david and Vlad operate as wide midfielders who provide the necessary width. David and Vlad must track back to help the two defenders, but they primarily look to win it back high up the pitch to spark a quick break.
The attack uses four players to pin the last defender and stretch the opposition. sly and GK play as a strike partnership in the center, with sly acting to hold up the ball while GK looks to make runs in behind. On the wings, P3 and ball act as wide attackers. P3 and ball stay wide to pull the opposition defenders apart, creating space for P4 or P2 to arrive late into the box. This attacking unit presses from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.
This lineup offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By flooding the final third, the team creates wide overloads and numerical superiority in the attacking zones. The speed of transition is a core strength, as the team can go direct to sly or GK the moment the midfield wins a second ball.
The 2-4-4 is a high risk, high reward formation built for aggressive, attacking football. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to break down a deep low block or when playing against an opponent that struggles to play out from the back.
