Custom Team Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Mausser · Makowski · Radović · Savage · Lichaba · Strong · Sono · L. Nanchoff · Furphy · Byrne · KiddPrioritizing defensive solidity and quick transitions, this team operates in a 5-2-3 formation. The lineup is built to soak up pressure and hit opponents on the break using wide areas. By maintaining a deep defensive block, the side aims to deny space between the lines while relying on the speed of the front three to exploit gaps.
Mausser stays between the posts to command the area and organize the back five. Radović sits in the center of the defense to act as the main anchor, while Savage and Makowski play as wide centre-backs to provide cover and sweep behind a high line when needed. The wing backs, Strong on the left and Lichaba on the right, are tasked with providing width and acting as attacking wing backs. They must track back to defend the flanks but also push up to support the attack. The unit functions by squeezing the space around the box and forcing the opposition wide.
The midfield operates as a double pivot, with L. Nanchoff and Sono occupying the central zones. These two must work hard to shield the defense and win the second ball in the middle of the pitch. Sono connects the defensive and attacking lines, while L. Nanchoff looks to carry the ball forward to transition play. They sit in a mid-block to prevent the opposition from playing through the center, ensuring the distance between the midfield and the back five remains tight.
In the final third, the team uses three attackers across the front. Kidd acts as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender and harass the opposition build up. Byrne and Furphy operate as wide wingers who look to stretch the defence by hugging the touchline before cutting inside to create chances. The attacking unit works in combinations to play through the lines, often looking for runs in behind the defense or cutbacks from the byline once the wing backs have overlapped.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to maintain compactness when defending. The presence of three central defenders makes the team very difficult to break down centrally. Additionally, the team can create wide overloads when Strong and Lichaba push forward to join the wingers, forcing the opposition to defend much larger spaces.
This 5-2-3 lineup focuses on defensive stability and rapid counter attacks. It is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their high defensive line.
