Ramallets acts as the last line of defense, sweeping behind a high line when the team pushes forward. The back three consists of Picchi in the center, acting as the primary ball playing defender to start attacks. Magnini and Cervato sit on either side of him to provide cover and dominance in the air. When the team loses possession, this unit must hold the line and squeeze the space to prevent long balls.

The midfield functions as a dense block that controls the tempo and provides a shield for the defenders. Luis Suárez and Gonzalvo III form a double pivot to protect the back three and deny the turn of attacking midfielders. Piantoni works in the center to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while Gento and Basora occupy the half spaces to drive forward with the ball. This midfield group works to win the second ball and recycle possession quickly to maintain pressure.

In the final third, the team utilizes two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defense.
