Dimarco and Baku operate as wide midfielders, with Dimarco often pushing high to provide width, while Baku tracks back to help the defense when they lose possession.

The midfield functions as a central engine room that connects the defense to the front line. Barella and Zielinski sit in a double pivot to control the tempo and break the lines with vertical passes. Barella is known for his intense pressing and ability to drive forward into space, whereas Zielinski provides technical quality to switch play.
