Luka Modric sits in the single pivot role to shield the back three, using his exceptional passing range to switch play and find teammates. Gérard Martin and Saelemakers operate on either side of him to drive the ball forward and press opponents. They must work hard to track back and cover the wide areas when the wingers push high.

The attacking unit is built around four players who create constant movement. Rafa Leao and Moise Kean play as two central forwards, with Rafa Leao using his dribbling and explosive pace to drive at defenders. Ardon Jashari and Adrien Rabiot act as wide attackers to provide width and cross the ball into the box.
