A high pressing and direct style of football defines AVS in their 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back quickly in the opponent half and launch rapid attacks through the wide areas. The team looks to control games through intensity rather than long periods of slow ball retention.

Adriel stays between the posts to organize the back five. A central trio consisting of Roni, Cristian, and Rúben provides a solid block that is difficult to break down through the middle. Roni acts as the central anchor while Cristian and Rúben provide cover and intercept passes. On the flanks, Mateus and Daniel operate as wing backs who are expected to push high up the pitch to provide width. This wide coverage ensures that the defensive unit can shift quickly to cover the flanks when the team loses possession.

The midfield works as a double pivot to bridge the gap between the defense and the attack. Pedro and Ángel hold the center to prevent opposition players from driving through the middle. Pedro helps to shield the back line while Ángel looks to drive forward and connect the play. These two players must work hard to track back and cover the spaces left behind by the advancing wing backs.

Moving into the attacking phase, AVS utilizes three forwards to stretch the opposition. Tomané leads the line as the lone striker to hold up the ball and occupy the central defenders. Diego and Tunde act as wide attackers who look to cut inside and create goalscoring chances. Their role involves pressing the opposition full backs high up the pitch to force mistakes. This movement allows the wing backs to overlap and deliver crosses into the box.

One major advantage for AVS is the ability to create wide overloads through the movement of Mateus and Daniel. When these wing backs push forward, they join Tunde and Diego to overwhelm the opposing defense. The formation also offers great compactness when defending in a low block. The five defenders and two midfielders can sit deep and deny space between the lines, making it hard for opponents to play through them.

This 5-2-3 formation provides a heavy presence in both boxes through its wide players and central striker. It is a system best suited for games where the team needs to exploit transitions and pressure an opponent into errors.
